Hello, and welcome! Pastries & Plot Lines is a project that has grown out of my passions for books and baking. I love pairing different culinary creations with the books I read. Sometimes the recipes are mentioned in the book, sometimes they just match the cover. Either way, I'm always trying something new!
By day I work in marketing for a small, independent publisher, and at night I am trying to earn my master's degree in publishing. Basically, my life is all books all the time. However, despite my TBR pile being over a mile high (and threatening to overtake my apartment), I always make sure to find time for my other love: cooking. In all its forms!
Don't get me wrong. I'm not that great at cooking...I have a tiny kitchen, and I'm impatient. And I never follow the correct "techniques." But I am always willing to learn everything I can! So even though I'm not very good, it's such a fun hobby.
I am hoping to create a place to discuss books and recipes that I like, don't like, recommend, and feel the need to share. I will also share my experiences cooking in a small apartment, along with tips and tricks from your very own amateur chef. I'm hoping to spark ideas and learn along the way!
A little about my reviewing process:
Since day one, I have decided not to label my reviews with star ratings or any other kind of ranking. I reserve this for Goodreads only, as I prefer to discuss the books I read in terms of the author, the work that went into the book, what I like, and what I don't. Hopefully, this allows for deeper and better conversations around books where people can talk about their opinions without feeling confined to "good" or "bad."
