About the Book:

Captain Eva Innocente and the crew of La Sirena Negra cruise the galaxy delivering small cargo for even smaller profits. When her sister Mari is kidnapped by The Fridge, a shadowy syndicate that holds people hostage in cryostasis, Eva must undergo a series of unpleasant, dangerous missions to pay the ransom.

Verdict:

This was so different from the books I usually read (marketed as a space opera)! It was very weird to step this far out of my comfort zone, but I ended up enjoying the book. The cast of characters was great and inclusive, which was exciting to see. For a debut novel, the writing was solid, and I was able to easily place myself in the action despite some of the wackier elements.

I felt that some of the scenes could have been shortened or eliminated to make the book shorter and more concise. But overall, I am excited for the second book in the series.
